Southchurch Road
Date:May 14, 2009Southend Council’s Development Control Committee recently approved a joint scheme between Estuary Housing Association and the Aitch Group for
a cost of approximately £9 million.
The development on a former car showroom site will contain 22 one bedroom apartments, 33 two-bedroom apartments and four threebedroom
apartments. There will be a mixed tenure of properties, including rent, market rent, shared ownership and outright sale.
Architects Third Dimension said in their design statement: “The building has been designed to give a clean and modern appearance. By using a mix
of modern and traditional materials, this progressive style has led to the design of a building which is contemporary in its feel”. It is hoped building will commence in February 2010 and the scheme is expected to take 18 months to complete.
