Mary Spence

Chief Executive
team memberMary Spence joined Thames Gateway South Essex Partnership as founding Chief Executive from the University of Greenwich, where she was Director of the Kings Hill Institute, a regional business centre. From an early career in international marketing she later joined academia, becoming Dean of the Business School at Greenwich before taking on responsibility for European Strategy and founding the Kings Hill Institute in 1997.

She has been involved with Thames Gateway since its inception, in Greenwich and in Kent before bringing her experience to Essex in 2001.

Dee Ireland

Admin & Technical Officer
team memberBefore joining the partnership in 2004, Dee worked as a Housing Assistant at Basildon District Council. Her qualifications include a BTEC National Diploma in Graphic Design, AS Level Art, and Key Skills L3. She is currently studying for a Certificate in Business Studies, specialising in Computing, with the Open University and is a trained first aider and fire marshall. Since her parents moved to France, she has started learning French, and is also looking forward to taking a sign language course later in the year. Dee has strong interests in Graphic Design, Marketing and IT, and hopes to one day learn how to design websites like her Dad. She enjoys socialising and supports Spurs.

Fran Goddard

Executive Support Officer
team memberFran has recently joined Thames Gateway South Essex Partnership as PA to Mary Spence. She previously worked on Decent Homes Projects with a main contractor getting the chance to experience the role of Resident Liaison Officer before joining St Georges Community Housing (Formerly BDC) as a Programmed Works Administrator. Fran hopes to further her career by working towards a role in project management. She has previously studied at Berkshire College of Agriculture for a National Diploma in Horse Management and still participates in equine activities on a regular basis. Fran also enjoys football and is the 3rd Spurs supporter to join the TGSEP team!

Catherine Sackey

Investing in Communities Project Development Manager
team memberCatherine's position is one of two new roles, managing the Investing in Communities programme, which is a ten year programme developed by the East of England Development Agency (EEDA). Catherine has a degree in Spanish and Theatre Arts. She also has postgraduate qualifications in Media and a Masters degree in International Development. She initially worked in print and broadcast journalism, followed by information, co-ordinating roles in a number of international organisations. Prior to joining TGSEP, she managed the Greater Peckham Alliance SRB programme, in the London Borough of Southwark and Tilbury Tomorrow, a regeneration programme in Thurrock Borough Council. Catherine is interested in community development and enjoys getting involved. She has been a school governor and is currently a Non-Executive Director at the Basildon Primary Care Trust. She speaks French and Spanish.

Mahroof Kazi

Investing in Communities Project Development Manager
team memberPrevious to joining Thames Gateway, Mahroof was a Community Development Officer at Crawley Borough Council, where he was involved in projects such as setting up Crawley's first Inter Faith Network. He has been involved and working in the community field for over 15 years. Mahroof has experience in working for both the Community/Voluntary sector and the Public Sector. This has ranged from setting up a small community venture in Birmingham to being Chair of a large Voluntary sector Partnership in Bristol. He has a B.A. Hons degree in Social Science in which he specialised in 20th Century History and Politics.

Rosalind Mangion

Project Administrator
team memberRos graduated with a 2:1 in Business Studies from the University of Glamorgan. She has previously worked for a large soft drinks company within Purchasing for 4½ years. This involved a role as a Purchasing Research Analyst, as well as a secondment as an Assistant Buyer for the Packaging team. She has also worked in the public sector within a Marketing Research Analyst role. Ros joined Thames Gateway South Essex in October 2006 and is part of the Investing in Communities (IiC) and Greengrid project teams. She hopes to develop her career within the Partnership. Ros enjoys playing tennis in her spare time and represents her club in league matches.
